Andrew Giuliani, a representative of the US Presidential Administration, has come to the defense of FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who has faced criticism over his proposal to sell stakes in the commercial rights of the World Cup. Giuliani, responsible for coordinating the tournament, argued that the attacks on the football organization’s leader are purely politically motivated.
“This is politics. I’ve seen similar situations before where other individuals were targeted. People are simply jealous of those who achieve significant results. What Gianni Infantino has done for FIFA has taken it to an entirely new level—one that wasn’t even expected here. Looking at all his work, I would say he is exactly the person I want to see at the helm,” Giuliani stated.
It is worth recalling that Infantino’s troubles began with his attempts to commercialize FIFA tournaments, specifically his plans to sell shares in future World Cups to private investors, among whom was the family of the US President’s daughter, Kushner.
