France head coach Zinedine Zidane praised his team’s performance following their 1-0 away victory over Belgium in the second round of the UEFA Nations League.
“I believe we played very well against a strong Belgian side. We were bold, unafraid to push forward and operate in the opponent’s half, although we did ease off slightly in the second half. Overall, we controlled the match and fully deserved the win.
I’m very pleased. Our aim is to keep possession and dictate the game, and that was our main focus. We have a very strong squad; the players are confident and contribute a lot to the national team. Today, they demonstrated what they are capable of. This also applies to the debutants, who had a good first match. I’m satisfied,” Zidane commented.
After two rounds, France leads Group A1 with six points. In October, Zidane’s side will host Italy on October 2 and Belgium again on October 5.
