France head coach Zinedine Zidane has announced plans to rotate his squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League away fixture against Belgium.
On Friday, France secured a 1-0 victory over Turkey in Zidane’s first match as head coach, with Kylian Mbappé netting the winning goal before being forced off due to injury.
“There will definitely be changes. How many exactly, you’ll see tomorrow,” Zidane said during the pre-match press conference on Sunday. “We knew we had to play four matches in a very short period, especially this one between Turkey and Belgium, considering the travel involved. So, obviously, we are going to rotate the squad a bit.”
“Everything is important, but the main thing is to get to know each other,” the coach added. “The primary goal is always to prepare properly for the matches, even if we have limited training time, especially since we can use video analysis. And of course, it’s about winning the game because we are all competitors, and when we step onto the pitch, we want to win. We have a tough match ahead. But that’s exactly what interests me. There are several great matches coming up. That’s what you want when you are competitive and love playing football.”
