Rodri, the captain of the Spain national team and former captain of Manchester City, addressed the recent verdict against his former club during a press conference ahead of their match against England. The club was found guilty on 114 out of 115 charges related to financial misconduct. As a result, Manchester City faces potential stripping of titles and relegation.
“What we achieved cannot be taken away from us. That is not something you pay for with money. It is paid for through effort, teamwork, and daily hard work side by side,” Rodri emphasized.
“Right now, I’m not saying it’s acceptable, but many teams or some clubs go through similar situations, and it’s part of football. Everyone must follow the rules, and that’s important.
However, the club’s leadership has always maintained their confidence that they did nothing wrong, and we believe in that. Until proven otherwise, we will stand by the club. I was there, I know how they operate and collaborate,” Rodri added.
