Bogdan Brynyuk to Join Latvian Club Ventspils Next Season
Ukrainian center forward Bohdan Brynyuk will be playing for Latvian club Ventspils in the upcoming season.
Last season, the 25-year-old basketball player represented Norwegian team Fyllingen, with whom he won the Norwegian championship.
During the Norwegian league campaign, Brynyuk appeared in 22 games, averaging 10.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per match. He also competed in the European North Basketball League (ENBL), where over six games he posted averages of 8.5 points and 5.5 rebounds.
Ventspils is counting on the Ukrainian’s physical attributes and views him as a potential candidate for the Ukrainian national team.
“Bohdan is a physically strong and highly motivated basketball player whose career has been significantly affected by the war in his homeland. We believe that together we can achieve not only the club’s sporting objectives but also help him break into the Ukrainian national team setup,” said Ventspils’ general manager Ralfs Pleiniks.
Brynyuk’s new club will benefit from a special rule in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League, which allows each team to register one Ukrainian player without counting him as a foreigner, granting that player local status.
