Patrick Beverley’s Transfer to French Club Delayed Over Visa Issues

Patrick Beverley has not yet joined the French club Boulogne as he is currently resolving visa issues.
The transfer of the experienced player is not in jeopardy; he is simply expected to arrive at the club later.
“At the end of August or the beginning of September,” said Alexandre Menard, the manager of Boulogne.
Such visa-related delays are common for any basketball player who does not hold an EU passport.
For example, Aaron Estrada, who was signed by Boulogne a few weeks ago, also joined the club’s training camp late due to similar reasons. The basketball club Le Mans encountered comparable difficulties when finalizing the transfer of Moses Wood.
“The rules have changed. Previously, American players arrived in France and we processed their documents at the Le Mans prefecture. Now, visas must be obtained in advance in the United States. The process is complicated, and players are sometimes located up to 400 kilometers away from French consulates (there are about ten in the United States),” explained Arnaud Leproux, the director of Le Mans.
