EuroLeague Round 2: Panathinaikos Rout ASVEL, Besiktas Achieve Historic Win
Panathinaikos secured a convincing 102-79 victory over ASVEL in the second round of the 2026/27 EuroLeague season. The Greek side dominated from the start, leading 25-13 after the first quarter and maintaining control throughout the game. Key contributors included Francisco with 19 points, Mantzouras adding 16 points and 6 rebounds, Grant scoring 13, Rogkavopoulos and Lessor each putting up 12 points, with Lessor also grabbing 8 rebounds. Yabusele chipped in 9 points, Kalaitzakis contributed 7 points and 5 assists, while Badio, Mitoglou, Moraitis, and Bonga provided additional support off the bench.
ASVEL struggled to keep pace despite efforts from Sestina who scored 14 points and Laity with 11. Besson reached double digits with 10 points, while Waiters and Fotzo Dada each added 7. Gach and Kyle contributed 6 points apiece, with Kyle also pulling down 5 rebounds. Mills and Massa each scored 5 points, with Massa also securing 5 rebounds. Crowder, Pons, and Bolomboy rounded out the scoring, with Bolomboy collecting 5 rebounds.
In another EuroLeague clash, Maccabi fell 93-109 to Besiktas. The Istanbul-based team took an early lead, outscoring Maccabi 27-19 in the opening quarter and never relinquishing control. Despite Maccabi’s efforts, including 17 points from Colson and 15 points plus 5 assists from Clark, Besiktas maintained their advantage.
Besiktas was led by Wilbekin and Brown, each scoring 20 points, with Brown also grabbing 5 rebounds. Dotson added 17 points, Morgan contributed 13, and Corkmaz and Omoruyi each scored 11. Zizic put in 9 points, Novell had 6, Ugurlu scored 2, and Birsen, despite not scoring, collected 3 rebounds.
This victory marked Besiktas’ first EuroLeague win since the 2012/13 season, a significant milestone for the Turkish club.
