Key Georgian Player Sandro Mamukelashvili Misses World Cup Qualifiers vs Ukraine
One of the key players of the Georgian national team, Sandro Mamukelashvili, will be unable to participate in the upcoming World Cup 2027 qualifying matches against Ukraine and Spain.
According to the official website of the Georgian Basketball Federation, NBA player Sandro Mamukelashvili became a free agent several days ago. Despite interest from multiple NBA clubs, he currently remains without a team.
Due to the absence of an active club contract, it is legally impossible to arrange the necessary insurance, which prevents him from joining the national team roster.
On the other hand, Tornike Shengelia has rejoined the team’s training sessions after concluding his club season just five days ago.
The Georgian squad currently includes 15 players, from whom the coaching staff will select 12 for the matches.
Ukraine’s game against Georgia is scheduled to take place in Riga tomorrow, 2 July.
