Luka Dončić, the star leader of the Lakers, is on track to secure a historic contract worth $417 million. However, the Slovenian playmaker will not be eligible to sign this deal until 2028. At present, Dončić still has two years remaining on his guaranteed contract with the Lakers.
Should Dončić enter free agency in 2028, he will be in position to negotiate a supermax contract, which could pay him approximately $83 million per year.
Currently, the highest total contract value belongs to Boston forward Jayson Tatum, who signed a five-year deal worth $314 million.
