Memphis Grizzlies and defender Jordan Hawkins have agreed to a contract termination, allowing the player to pursue opportunities as a free agent.

This decision came just three weeks after Hawkins arrived in a four-player trade deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, which involved AJ Johnson and Taj Gibson moving in the opposite direction.

The 24-year-old Hawkins averaged 5.1 points over 51 games last season and struggled to secure consistent playing time within New Orleans’ deep backcourt rotation. The 2023 NCAA champion logged only 13.6 minutes per game, a significant drop compared to the 2024-25 season when he averaged 23.6 minutes and scored 10.8 points per game.

Originally selected by the Pelicans with the 14th overall pick in the 2023 draft, Hawkins posted 7.8 points in 17 minutes per game during his rookie season.
