ABC 7 reporter Abigail Veles sparked an international controversy with her comments ahead of the World Cup Round of 16 match between the USA and Bosnia and Herzegovina. On air, she delivered a segment filled with provocative remarks.
“In the next round, the US team will face Bosnia, and the thing is, I won’t be able to locate it on a map. I don’t know anything about Bosnia, and I don’t want to know. The US is back and better than ever. Watch out, Bosnia, you don’t want this,” she declared.
The clip quickly went viral on social media, igniting outrage among fans worldwide.
“Just imagine how empty-headed she is. Why do Americans think being ignorant and stupid is funny?” fans wrote.
Supporters are demanding the journalist’s dismissal, but neither the channel nor Veles herself have issued any apologies so far.
