Arsenal is currently in official talks with Newcastle United over the signing of their captain, Bruno Guimarães. According to BBC Sport, the negotiations have progressed beyond earlier intermediary contacts and are now being conducted directly between the clubs regarding the midfielder.
The 28-year-old Guimarães is reportedly eager to join the Premier League champions. While it remains uncertain whether an agreement will be reached, those involved believe the deal is moving closer to completion. Earlier reports from BBC indicated that Arsenal would need to increase their previous £70 million offer, which was made through intermediaries last month.
Following the World Cup break, Guimarães traveled to Spain as planned to join Newcastle’s preseason training camp in La Manga. The Brazilian midfielder has been a top target for Arsenal as they look to bolster their squad further after securing the Premier League title last season.
