Aston Villa has reached an agreement with Atlético Madrid to sign Matteo Ruggeri. The Italian defender will cost Villa 20 million euros.

Ruggeri did not join Atlético Madrid’s preseason training camp in South Korea as he was still negotiating his personal terms with Aston Villa.

Ultimately, the Italian left-back has given his approval for the transfer, with only a medical examination remaining before the move is finalized.

Aston Villa will kick off their season on August 13 with the UEFA Super Cup match against PSG.
