Aston Villa’s Bryan Mbeumo Sets Two Records in UEFA Super Cup Defeat
Despite Aston Villa’s 1-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup final, there are a couple of bright spots for the Birmingham club, both centered on their young forward Braian Ajo.
At just 17 years and 212 days old, Ajo became the youngest player ever to start in a UEFA Super Cup final. Moreover, he scored a goal just before halftime, making him the youngest scorer in the competition’s history. This achievement surpasses the previous record held by Patrick Kluivert, who was 19 years and 220 days old when he scored in 1996.
Notably, this match marked Ajo’s first-ever start for Aston Villa, making it one of the most remarkable debuts in the club’s history.
