Ukrainian national team defender Valeriy Bondar shared his thoughts ahead of the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures. The “Blue and Yellow” are set to face Hungary, Georgia, and Northern Ireland in the group stage.
“I believe the coaching staff has already called up the players with a clear plan for these four matches, especially given the intense schedule. Four games in 10 days is demanding. As players, we need to prepare mentally and do everything possible so that Ukrainian fans can watch the national team comfortably on TV.
Each opponent will present a tough challenge because they are all national teams. Some might be from League C of the Nations League, but those teams are no pushovers. Whenever you step onto the pitch for your country, it’s always difficult. I think the Georgian team plays good football and has quality players. Hungary will be particularly tough, especially with the strong support they’ll have at their stadiums. These teams stand out in that sense. Of course, Northern Ireland is a physically strong side where there will be a lot of battles on the field.
Regarding working with Andrea Maldera, we’ve had about two weeks together and a clearer picture is starting to form. In the coming days, we will continue to develop tactically, but physically, it’s about going out there and doing your job on the pitch,” Bondar told Profootball Digital.
