Jamie Carragher, the former captain of Liverpool, delivered a harsh critique of German footballer Florian Wirtz‘s performance in the match against Bournemouth. The ex-defender described Wirtz’s display as “his worst moment at Liverpool.”
“Wirtz is struggling again. Nothing is happening. Absolutely nothing,” Carragher said. “That was one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen from him in a Liverpool shirt.”
“Are there any positives? I’ve criticized him before for lacking statistical impact. But usually, when you watch Wirtz play, he is tidy and precise, controlling the ball well, and there is something about that which I like. He manages to escape difficult situations when you’d expect him to lose possession.”
“However, in my Liverpool team, Wirtz wouldn’t make the squad. In the home game against Manchester City, in my opinion, he shouldn’t have played either.”
“The only hope for Liverpool fans right now is Jürgen Klopp, who is now managing the German national team. Wirtz is heading to the national team for three weeks, and he is clearly one of their best players—that’s how they see him. Can Jürgen Klopp add some of that star quality to his role?”.
