Chris Smalling, the former defender for Manchester United and Roma, is making his return to European football. After spending two years in Saudi Arabia, the 37-year-old Englishman has joined Porto as a free agent. His contract with the Dragons runs until the end of the current season.

“Porto has strengthened its squad by adding a central defender with international experience and appearances in some of the world’s top leagues: Chris Smalling has signed a contract until the end of the season, with an option to extend for another year, joining the reigning champions completely free of charge,” the blue-and-white club announced officially.
