De Jong Addresses Spanish Media Criticism Over Knee Injury Rumors
Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong addressed the club’s YouTube channel to put an end to the rumors surrounding his knee injury sustained during the World Cup. The player responded directly to journalists who accused him of worsening the injury on his own and sharply criticized the media for spreading inaccurate information.
“I’m tired of all the noise and false information circulating about me. I’ve been with the club for seven years now, and playing for Barcelona has always been my dream. Being injured is really tough because playing football is what I love most. I got the knee injury accidentally during training at the tournament when another player fell on me. After medical checks, the doctors cleared me to play. However, upon returning, further examinations revealed the injury was far more serious than initially thought. Recently, the press has published too many lies, which has seriously damaged my reputation,” De Jong stated.
