England midfielder Declan Rice is confident that the national team currently boasts the strongest group of penalty takers. He made this statement ahead of England’s first World Cup playoff match against DR Congo, which is set to kick off today at 19:00 UTC.
“I don’t think England has ever had a better pool of penalty takers. When I look at Kane, Townley, Rashford, Gordon, and Saka — I can take one myself, and so can Bellingham. We really have some strong penalty takers,” said the Arsenal midfielder.
It’s worth noting that already in the round of 16, two European teams, Germany and the Netherlands, have been eliminated after penalty shootouts.
