Dirk Kuyt Joins Fenerbahce as Assistant Coach
Former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt has been appointed as assistant head coach at Fenerbahce. The Dutchman played for the Istanbul-based club from 2012 to 2015, during which he helped secure both the Turkish Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup. Now 45 years old, Kuyt began his coaching career in 2017, working with Feyenoord’s youth teams as well as clubs in the second divisions of Belgium and the Netherlands. This role marks his debut in a top-flight league in Istanbul.
The club’s press office highlighted Kuyt’s return, stating, “Dirk Kuyt, who played a pivotal role in our championship-winning season and earned the fans’ admiration through his professionalism and fighting spirit, has come back home.”
Kuyt will be assisting head coach Ismail Kartal. Last season, Fenerbahce, led by Kante and Talisca, finished as runners-up in the league.
