Dynamo Kyiv failed to overcome Azerbaijani side Karabakh in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, suffering a 2-0 defeat and exiting European competition.
Karabakh dominated the opening 30 minutes, with Zubir causing havoc down Dynamo’s right flank. Defender Syich struggled to contain him, often relying on support from Guerrero. Despite this, the breakthrough came from a Zubir cross into the penalty area—after Silva controlled the ball, it deflected to Muaddib, who fired it into the right top corner in the 12th minute.
Between the 30th and 35th minutes, Dynamo finally launched their first attacks and began to gain some initiative. Although they did not score, a sense of optimism emerged that the Kyiv side could hold on.
However, the second half brought no goals or rescue for Dynamo. Instead, Karabakh extended their lead with a strike from the left flank by Ukrainian player Kashchuk in the 67th minute. After that, Dynamo could not mount a comeback, and substitutions including Shaparenko, Shola, and Buyalskyi failed to change the course of the match. While Karabakh did not appear invincible, Dynamo lacked convincing responses and will now focus on domestic competitions.
