Erling Haaland Named Manchester City Captain for Arsenal Super Cup Match
Erling Haaland has been appointed as the new captain of Manchester City, confirmed head coach Enzo Maresca during the pre-match press conference.
Today, City will compete for their first trophy of the season as they face Arsenal in the FA Community Shield.
“He is the only one allowed not to run to celebrate a goal at the coaching bench,” Maresca joked about his new captain.
The vice-captaincy will be held by Ruben Dias, while Maresca plans to select two more assistants for Haaland at a later time.
Last season, the captaincy was held by Bernardo Silva, who left the club this summer.
