Fenerbahçe secured their place in the Champions League qualifying playoff round by defeating Austrian side Sturm Graz once again. Following a strong 2-0 victory in the first leg in Istanbul, the Turkish club managed a narrow win on the road.
The match in Graz was decided by a single goal scored in the second half. Anderson Talisca converted a penalty to give the visitors the lead. Sturm Graz pushed hard to turn the game around, but Fenerbahçe’s defense held firm, ensuring a 3-0 aggregate victory over the two legs.
In the Champions League qualifying playoff round, Fenerbahçe will face French club Lyon for a spot in the tournament’s group stage.
