NEC secured their spot in the Champions League qualifying playoff round with a dramatic 2-1 extra-time victory over Olympiacos. After a goalless draw in the first leg in Piraeus, the Dutch side staged a comeback on home soil.
The opening 45 minutes saw no goals, but early in the second half, El-Kaabi put the visitors ahead. NEC responded when Linssen equalized following a pass from Tadić. Shortly after, Olympiacos was reduced to ten men as Fortunis received a red card. A goal by Sirhøis was disallowed after a VAR review. The decisive moment came in extra time when Mor scored the winner. NEC will face Bodø/Glimt for a place in the group stage.
