France Plans Bids to Host Euro 2036 and World Cup 2038
According to French media reports, the association Territoires d’événements sportifs (TES) has prepared a report for Sports Minister Marina Ferrari. The document recommends that France submit bids to host the 2036 UEFA European Championship and the 2038 FIFA World Cup. This report is expected to be handed over to the minister in the near future.
France has a proven track record of successfully hosting major tournaments, including the 1998 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2016. The authors of the report emphasize that the country possesses the necessary infrastructure to host such events independently. However, to enhance the chances of winning the bid and to reduce the carbon footprint, a joint application—particularly with Germany—is also being considered.
The final decision on whether to proceed with the bids will come after the government evaluates the economic implications, the current condition of stadiums, and the prospects for upgrading sports facilities, according to L’Equipe.
