Gianni Infantino Tops Flight Logs, Attending 24 Matches at World Cup
BBC has compiled statistics on FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s attendance during the group stage of the 2026 World Cup. According to the English outlet, Infantino attended 24 matches over just more than two weeks.
BBC Sport tracked a private plane linked to FIFA and Infantino, which completed 27 flights throughout the tournament to cities where the FIFA chief was spotted at games.
During the group stage, Infantino often attended two matches in a single day, frequently traveling between cities hundreds of kilometers apart. On some occasions, he took three separate flights within one day.
The longest flight Infantino took in the first two weeks was 2,800 miles (4,507 km) on June 13, flying from Vancouver to Miami after watching the Australia vs. Turkey match.
He also made shorter trips—for example, on June 22, the plane flew 92 miles (148 km) from Philadelphia to Teterboro Airport in New Jersey.
Although Infantino did not attend the match in New Jersey, he gave an interview the next morning at Fox News studios in nearby New York City, before flying later that same day to watch matches in Boston and Toronto.
