How Dynamo Secured PSG’s Top Talent Pierre Mungenge Transfer
Journalist Mikhail Spivakovsky has revealed details surrounding the transfer of PSG forward Pierre Mungenge to Dynamo Kyiv. The 18-year-old signed a three-year contract with the Ukrainian club last week.
“Dynamo, amid wartime conditions, managed to bring in a player from Europe’s top club on a free transfer. That’s simply incredible.
This represents a massive achievement even before we’ve seen Mungenge play. For me, this transfer is comparable to Dani Olmo’s move to Dinamo Zagreb—a promising talent from a leading European club moving to an Eastern European league.
What do I know about the events leading up to Mungenge’s transfer? First and foremost, the Surkis brothers succeeded in figuring out, so to speak, ‘where the switch is’ with this player. Additionally, the agents had a direct influence on the player’s decision. The options were to extend his contract with PSG, seek opportunities at another European club, go out on loan, or choose Dynamo. We all understand that Dynamo was likely at the bottom of that shortlist. Yet somehow, Dynamo’s management managed to motivate the agents and secure the player.
Another crucial factor was that Mungenge was brought to Kyiv. He visited the Ukrainian capital and apparently even underwent a preliminary medical examination here. Importantly, during those three days in Kyiv, it was quiet—no shelling or air raid alerts. The young player saw the city, enjoyed dinner at the floating restaurant ‘Veranda on the Dnipro,’ and took in the sights, including Ukrainian women—which, after all that, sealed the deal about 70 percent.
Finally, a key figure in this process was Viktor Kazansky, Dynamo’s young top manager. As I understand it, he officially heads the supervisory board. He is deeply involved in scouting and was one of those who accompanied Mungenge around various locations, effectively overseeing the transfer,” Spivakovsky explained.
