Ivory Coast Coach Criticizes Germany for Lack of Fair Play in Match
Ivory Coast national team head coach Emers Fae expressed his frustration after yesterday’s match, criticizing the German side for what he described as a lack of fair play.
The controversy arose in the 80th minute following a clash near the sideline involving Kai Havertz and Wilfried Singo.
Singo suddenly grabbed his hamstring, raised his right hand, and deliberately kicked the ball out of bounds. Julian Nagelsmann was furious about the brief stoppage caused by the incident. Meanwhile, Nathaniel Brown engaged in a verbal exchange with Fae.
“We look up to countries like this as examples for our own development, yet I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of fair play from this German team,” Fae said after the match. “Regarding the young German defender [Brown], I simply told him to stay humble. It’s true he played very well; he is part of a very, very strong national team. But I don’t think he needs to speak badly about us just because he’s trying to make up for something, or because the score was 1-1 and he wanted to win. From a great country like Germany, you would expect a bit more honesty when Singo put the ball out due to injury. We would have liked him to return the ball to us.”
