Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso reflected on his team’s dominant victory over Milan in a recent friendly during their training camp. João Pedro was the standout performer for the Blues, netting a brace, while Moisés Caicedo added a spectacular volley to the scoreline.
The Spanish manager emphasized that his squad is still undergoing a rebuilding phase following a disappointing season.
“We need to be unpredictable, flexible, and pose a constant threat. The system is just a framework; it’s about movement and creating dynamics, which then transforms that framework into a full narrative. We don’t limit ourselves to a single idea, and the more options we have, the stronger our team becomes.
During the preseason, we’ve already played several matches, and naturally, the more players we have available, the more tactical variations we can explore.
I believe we will improve and be ready by the start of the Premier League season. However, that will only mark the beginning of the team’s development. This process will take months and continue through every game,” Alonso explained.
