Serie A authorities have imposed a €10,000 fine on Juventus following an incident involving some of the club’s supporters who disrupted a minute of silence held in memory of Sandro Mazzola, the legendary Inter and Italy player who passed away on Saturday at the age of 83.
The incident took place ahead of the match between Juventus and Atalanta. During the minute of silence, several fans turned their backs to the pitch and then began chanting in tribute to Juventus legends. This behavior drew widespread criticism from the football community. Juventus publicly condemned the actions shortly after the game.
It was noted that the fine was reduced due to the club’s prompt response and the fact that the chants were largely drowned out by applause from the rest of the spectators.
