Lechia Gdańsk Appoints Ukrainian Coach Vladyslav Lupashko Until 2029
Polish club Lechia Gdańsk has announced the appointment of 39-year-old Ukrainian coach Vladyslav Lupashko as their new head manager. His contract runs until June 30, 2029.
Lupashko, a former player, previously achieved success leading Inhulets to promotion to the Ukrainian Premier League. He later managed Karpaty Lviv, from which he was dismissed in December 2025. He is recognized for his modern football philosophy, emphasis on youth development, and disciplined approach to the game.
In his first statement, Lupashko described the appointment as a great honor and responsibility. He pledged to work honestly every day to build a team that fans can be proud of. He faces a tough challenge—Lechia endured a disastrous previous season, finishing 16th in the Ekstraklasa and suffering relegation to the First League. The goal now is to secure an immediate return to the top flight.
