Shakhtar Considers Four European Stadiums for Champions League Matches, Says Turan
Shakhtar Donetsk continues to deliberate over the venue for their Champions League matches this season, with the club considering four different stadium options.
“We have four arenas to choose from: Brentford Stadium, Stamford Bridge, Fulham’s stadium, or the arena in Hamburg,” Shakhtar’s head coach Arda Turan revealed in an interview with the Turkish outlet Kafa Sports.
Last season, the club played their European fixtures at Kraków’s Henryk Reyman Stadium. At the time, Shakhtar explained that the choice was based on logistical convenience, the city’s rich football heritage, and, importantly, the large Ukrainian community there who could support the team in the stands. However, it seems that for this season’s Champions League campaign, these factors alone are no longer sufficient.
