On August 9th, Liverpool hosted Monaco at Anfield as part of their preseason preparations for the upcoming campaign.

Liverpool started strongly, with goals from Isak and Wirtz putting them 2-0 up by the 30th minute. However, as has often been the case last season and during this offseason, a two-goal lead did not guarantee victory for the Reds.

Monaco’s Golovin reduced the deficit with a penalty just before halftime. In the second half, the visitors appeared to take control of the match, almost playing like the home side at Anfield. Biret and Brunner scored in the 56th and 88th minutes respectively, securing a 3-2 win for Monaco.
