Italy head coach Roberto Mancini shared his thoughts on his team’s performance in yesterday’s UEFA Nations League clash against France, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
“We knew it would be a very tough match, especially at the start, but we managed to limit the opponent’s clear scoring chances, even though they had more possession,” Mancini told RAI Sport.
“We played as a unit, both in attack and defense, so this is definitely a very positive evening for us. I wanted this to be another step forward on our journey. I liked that we tried to play our own football despite facing an outstanding French team full of champions.
At times it was difficult, but we always pushed to score, and that’s very encouraging. Gigio made several crucial saves, but we played confidently and created chances throughout the match. I believe that through hard work, these players can build a great Italian team.”
