Martin O’Neill Reports Improved Health After Hospital Stay
Martin O’Neill, the 74-year-old manager of Celtic, shared positive updates about his health during an interview on the club’s Celtic Player channel, a week after spending a night in hospital.
O’Neill was absent from the dugout during Sunday’s commanding 5-1 victory over Kilmarnock, although he did address the team with a pre-match talk at the hotel.
When asked about his condition, the former Ireland national team coach said, “Much better than last week. Yes, unfortunately a couple of ailments, but I’m recovering, and that’s good news.”
Following the convincing win, O’Neill received another boost on Wednesday evening as Celtic completed the signing of Egyptian winger Hyssem Hassan from Oviedo.
The 24-year-old, a former France youth international who impressed at the World Cup after switching national allegiance, had reportedly been a target for the club for some time, according to O’Neill.
Celtic are set to return to action today, 15 August, facing Dundee United in the Scottish League Cup.
