Newcastle United from the Premier League have agreed on a €35 million deal to sign Amar Dedić from Benfica. In England, the Bosnian defender will reunite with his former coach Matthias Jaissle.
Dedić has already traveled to Newcastle to undergo his medical examination.
Benfica was reluctant to sell the player, but the transfer was driven by Dedić himself. The 23-year-old defender was eager to work again with the German coach who played a pivotal role in his football development.
Jaissle coached Dedić during their time together at Red Bull Salzburg, where the defender became a key member of the starting lineup. Under Jaissle’s guidance, Dedić appeared in 52 matches and contributed to the team’s attacking play from his position as a full-back.
