Georgia’s national team head coach Willy Sagnol has stepped down following the team’s 0-1 defeat to Northern Ireland in the opening round of the UEFA Nations League. The Frenchman had been in charge since February 2021.

Taking over the reins is Ramaz Svanadze, who has signed a contract extending through the end of 2028. The 42-year-old previously managed the Georgia U21 national team.

Looking ahead, Georgia is set to host Ukraine on 28 September in their second match of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League campaign.
