Roman Yaremchuk is eager to return to Lyon following his loan spell in the latter half of last season. The 30-year-old striker, who has since rejoined Olympiacos, is putting pressure on the club’s management to facilitate his move back to France, according to Lyonfoot.
The player’s profile appeals to Lyon’s head coach Paulo Fonseca, who sees Yaremchuk as a potential rotational option alongside Lois Openda and Rémi Amieux. The main hurdle remains financial. Olympiacos continues to demand €5 million for Yaremchuk’s transfer—the exact amount set in the buyout clause a few months ago. However, the French club refuses to meet this valuation and has even suggested that the Greeks simply terminate the player’s contract, which still has two years remaining. This proposal has been firmly rejected in Piraeus.
Nevertheless, the striker’s own desire to leave remains a significant factor. Should Yaremchuk persist in pushing for a departure and Olympiacos decide not to rely on him for the upcoming season, the situation could progress closer to the end of the summer transfer window, the French outlet speculates.
