Reports Reveal Why Marcus Krösche Rejected Milan Move
New details have emerged regarding AC Milan’s unsuccessful attempt to appoint Marcus Krösche as the club’s sporting director.
The German executive held discussions with the Rossoneri but ultimately decided to remain with Eintracht Frankfurt, despite reportedly receiving an extraordinary offer from the Italian giants.
According to German outlet BILD, Milan were prepared to offer Krösche a four-year contract worth €40 million in total, which would have amounted to €10 million per season. The proposed salary would have exceeded that of any current player at the club.
The report also claims Milan was willing to place a budget of approximately €700 million at Krösche’s disposal over four years to oversee a major restructuring project, including changes to the squad, coaching staff, and broader sporting operations.
However, financial incentives were not enough to convince the Frankfurt executive. Krösche reportedly felt a strong sense of loyalty toward the Bundesliga club and was reluctant to leave an organization that had shown significant trust in him. Reports also suggest he did not want to disappoint the hundreds of employees working under his leadership at Deutsche Bank Park.
BILD further states that Krösche became frustrated by media reports in Italy revealing details of negotiations before any agreement had been finalized. The German publication described the handling of the situation as “amateurish,” arguing that information was made public prematurely during a sensitive stage of discussions.
As a result, Milan’s pursuit of Krösche came to an end, forcing the club to continue its search for a new sporting director.
