Roma has decided not to release its Argentine players Paulo Dybala and Nahuel Molina for the upcoming friendly match between the Argentina national team and Benin. The game is scheduled for October 6 in Buenos Aires and will mark Lionel Messi‘s final appearance for his country.
The club cited sporting and logistical reasons for the decision, highlighting concerns over the lengthy intercontinental flight and the proximity of official fixtures for the team.
Despite this, Roma emphasized their understanding of how significant the call-up is for both players. Dybala and Molina share a connection with Messi and were part of the Argentina squad that triumphed at the 2022 World Cup alongside him.
The club also paid tribute to Messi’s illustrious career, extending their respect and wishing both the Argentine star and the national federation a memorable evening.
Messi’s farewell match for Argentina will take place on October 6 at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires, with Benin as the opponents.
