England head coach Thomas Tuchel reflected on his team’s 2-0 victory over Panama. The win secured England’s top spot in Group L and a place in the knockout stage against DR Congo.
“We did everything necessary. It was a tough match. Scoring was difficult. We were the only team to score twice against them. We played aggressively but remained cautious on the counterattacks — we earned the win, but it was hard work. We stick to an aggressive approach.
The tournament starts anew in the knockout rounds. Now we are gathering strength and energy. We are building team spirit and confidence. We will continue to improve; the more important the matches become, the stronger we will get,” the German coach stated.
