2014 World Cup champion Toni Kroos has commented on Germany’s early exit from the tournament in America. The midfielder identified the reasons behind the national team’s failure:
“In Germany, we don’t have a single world-class player right now, and we need to be honest about that.
Back when we performed well in tournaments, I always felt we had the potential to reach a higher level.
This current team is no longer capable of that. We simply assume we’re better than Paraguay and that we’ll somehow win.”
