From August 9 to 15, a delegation from the Ukrainian Football Association will be working at the City Football Academy in Manchester, the training ground for both Manchester City’s first team and their academy players. This marks the second major educational visit by the UAF to Manchester as part of their collaboration with the English club.
According to the UAF website, the delegation primarily consists of youth football practitioners. Twenty-one coaches, who regularly work on the field with talented Ukrainian children, make up the group.
Sixteen of the participants represent clubs from the PRO League of the National League of the Future and teams from the top half of the Elite League standings. These are coaches from Ukrainian academies that currently form the backbone of Ukraine’s youth national teams. Additionally, five spots were allocated to coaches of girls’ teams from various Ukrainian leagues, ranging from U-15 to the Prime League.
The program is designed so that theory is immediately applied on the pitch. The Ukrainian coaches will analyze how City structures their training sessions, organizes on-field processes, and develops not only players but also coaches. Following this, they will have the opportunity to observe these methods firsthand during training sessions with the academy’s children and youth teams.
In the latter part of the week, the Ukrainian specialists will conduct their own sessions on the academy’s fields after receiving instruction from Manchester City coaches and engaging in detailed reviews after each training. This phase moves beyond theoretical insight into practical work under the guidance of mentors from one of the world’s top academies.
