France head coach Zinedine Zidane expressed his delight following his victorious debut with the team during the post-match press conference after their 1-0 win over Turkey.
“There are a lot of emotions,” Zidane admitted. “It’s a debut, and starting with a victory is never easy, especially here in Turkey. I believe we played exactly as we needed to. We didn’t allow our opponents to settle; we pressed them quite high and defended very aggressively.”
“I saw many promising signs, even though we’ve only trained together for three and a half sessions. That is very encouraging. I’m pleased with what the players have achieved, and I’m happy that this debut went the way it did,” the French coach added.
“We must also give credit to Turkey. Many expected them to tire physically, but that didn’t happen. The Turkish side maintained a high intensity until the very end. We managed to respond, and everyone was ready, including the substitutes who came on and took control of the game perfectly. That is truly satisfying.”
