Ukrainian player Elina Svitolina was unable to advance to the semifinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Washington, falling to Czech opponent Alexandra Eala with a scoreline of 3-6, 4-6. This marks Svitolina’s second consecutive defeat against Eala.

Eala converted 6 out of 16 break points during the match, while Svitolina managed to hold serve only three times on her opponent’s serve.

Svitolina is now preparing for the upcoming US Open. Next week, she will compete in the WTA 1000 event in Toronto.
