Philadelphia 76ers forward LeBron James has opened up about his offseason move to the team, highlighting the opportunity to play alongside Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, and Joel Embiid as key reasons for the transfer.
“My relationship with Tyrese Maxey goes beyond the basketball court. By the way, when I mentioned him earlier on a podcast, Philadelphia wasn’t even on my radar. The trade that brought Jaylen Brown to the 76ers this offseason changed everything and made me seriously consider joining. That was a pivotal moment. I don’t think anyone expected it. People anticipated some moves, but I don’t think anyone imagined Philadelphia would be part of that trade package. I also appreciate Brown’s approach to the game. You know, his play on both ends of the floor, his basketball IQ. I’ve seen how he’s been misunderstood, and that’s perfectly normal. I think we’re all uniquely different people. You get what I mean? Everyone’s always trying to fit people into one category. I like what he stands for and what he brings to the table.”
“Honestly, one of the biggest factors in my decision to join was Joel Embiid. The only thing he hasn’t done yet is win a championship. I want to help him get his first title. He’s been the league MVP, has an Olympic gold medal, has appeared in All-Star Games, has signature sneakers, a lot of money, and great fans. He has it all. The city is behind him. He’s been part of ‘The Process’ for about 10, 12 years or however long he’s been there. I hope I can be that final missing piece to help him overcome challenges and maybe see things a bit differently than he has throughout his career.
