Real Madrid has announced the signing of Ukrainian point guard Mykhailo Shulha on a contract running until 2028.
Shulha became a free agent after the Boston Celtics declined to guarantee his contract for the upcoming season. Following that, he participated in the NBA Summer League with the Golden State Warriors. During his rookie professional season, Shulha spent the majority of his time with the Celtics’ G League affiliate. There, he averaged 15.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game. In the NBA, he appeared in 11 games but averaged only 3.3 minutes of playing time.
Having moved to Spain at a young age, Shulha progressed through the local development system, which qualifies him as a homegrown player without occupying a foreign player slot at Real Madrid. Spanish league regulations require clubs to include at least four homegrown players on their registered rosters.
