FIFA to Compensate Sassuolo Over Ismaël Koné’s World Cup Injury
A serious injury to Canadian midfielder Ismaël Koné at the World Cup has triggered FIFA’s Club Protection Program. With the player expected to be sidelined for between four and five months, the international governing body is set to compensate his Italian club, Sassuolo.
The compensation is calculated based on Koné’s fixed salary, excluding any bonuses. Earning approximately €3,700 per day, the initial four-week injury period is not covered by the program. However, for the remaining estimated 150 days of absence, FIFA will pay Sassuolo around €550,000. The Italian club has already confirmed the success of Koné’s surgery and wished him a speedy recovery.
