Senegal Squad Faces Internal Turmoil Ahead of 2026 World Cup Match
Tensions within the Senegal national team have reached a critical point ahead of their crucial clash with Norway. Following their 3-1 defeat to France, significant internal issues have come to light. It has emerged that the Senegal Football Federation has yet to pay the players their prize money from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as well as the bonuses promised for qualifying for the World Cup.
Adding to the unrest, the squad is dissatisfied with the accommodation provided at their base camp, which is reportedly far inferior to that of previous tournaments. Without a head chef on site, players have criticized the quality of the meals, describing them as mediocre and resorting to ordering food from local restaurants in large numbers. Compounding the turmoil, head coach Pap Tiéba is currently working without a contract, as his agreement has expired and he is owed five months of salary arrears.
