Fulham’s Alvaro Arbeloa Charged Over Comments on Refereeing Bias
The Football Association of England has charged Fulham head coach Alvaro Arbeloa with misconduct following the 1-1 draw against Manchester United in the fifth round of the Premier League.
The incident took place at Craven Cottage on September 20. In a post-match interview, Arbeloa claimed that the referees “did not allow Manchester United to lose” and that all decisions favored the visitors. The Spaniard referenced a controversial moment from the Manchester derby a week earlier, suggesting that referees would not permit the “Red Devils” to suffer defeat. The Football Association classified these remarks as implying referee bias and questioning their integrity. Arbeloa is required to respond to the charges by the end of today.
To recall, Fulham had taken the lead through an own goal by Lisandro Martinez, but Mateus Cunha equalized with a deflected strike in the 89th minute. For Arbeloa, who took charge of the London club this summer, this marks his fifth Premier League match without a victory.
